If you love orchids and the nature, then this is your trek. Spending full day on an orchid-hunting journey in a remote jungle out of Vientiane, you will see wild orchids and several exotic plants that locals use for cooking or make medicine.
Detail Itinerary
7:30 AM. The car and guide will pick you up at your hotel to start a full day tour to Orchid. The driving time is approximately 2 hours. You’ll arrive in the village of Ban Hatkhay. Here, you are going to meet the local guide, the expert for Lao orchid. Afterwards, you continue to drive through the small road among the paddy field to Ban Pha Say. Your orchid trek will start from here.
You move slowly on small trails and discover shade different forest types: semi-deciduous jungles, bamboo, accompanied by two guides and an expert on orchids. Do not be surprised by abundance of orchids in some places, all the rocks are covered! Some biotopes are extraordinary. You will also have the opportunity to learn many things on medicinal plants and other plant families such as: Cane, the Gingers, the Dypterocarpes ... The picnic will be in the bed of a dry river any part of the year.
Afternoon, you can have a swim at the waterfall of Tad Say or just wonder the surrounding area before returning to the village and then drive back to Vientiane around 6:00 PM.
