Detail Itinerary

Morning or afternoon, your private guide will pick you up at your hotel to explore Yangon. You will start with a visit to the 2,600 years old Shwedagon Pagoda, famous world wide - its golden stupa is the 'heart' of Buddhist Myanmar and the most sacred Buddhist pagoda for the Burmese can be seen from almost anywhere in Yangon. You will start at the eastern staircase where you will find the shops selling various religious items and other unique objects. Upon reaching at the main platform, witness the colors transform on the 100-meter pagoda which is literally covered with over 60 tons of gold leaf. So what’s behind the golden façade of the Shwedagon Pagoda? You will learn about the full history of the pagoda, the daily life of all people living in its immediate surroundings and a deeper insight in the Buddhist religion and how the spiritual belief is mixed with the belief in nats – the Myanmar spirits. There are always many Myanmar people praying and making offerings at Shwedagon, and it's a fascinating place to spend time watching the world go by. Walk the nearby markets after sunset (if you take tour in the afternoon) and enjoy the intense sights and sounds of Myanmar and a visit will be made at National Museum before finding the way back your hotel.
