Description
The Living Land is a community-run organic farm supplying fresh vegetables, herbs, salads and rice in Luang Prabang. This trip will take visitors to the farm where they can try their hand at being a real farmer by joining farming activities like grow rice and enjoy a beautiful Lao-style house overlooking rice terraces and the organic vegetable fields. Then return to the city for a half-day trip to visit the Traditional Art and Ethnology center, the Wat Xieng Thong, climb Mount Phousi for sweeping panoramic views of the whole town and finally soak up in the night atmosphere at a local market.
Detail Itinerary
Morning, your private guide will pick you up at your hotel in the town then drive to Living Land Lao Organic Farm at Phoung Van village. Upon arrival, the representative of the farm briefs about the historical and activity of the farm. It is your chance to experience the real activities and life of a Lao farmer. You will have your hand on all the activities including ploughing, seeding, manuring, until reaping the harvest. Perhaps you only know how hard to grow the rice when you try to do it. Last but not least, visit the vegetable garden and the guide will teach you how to realize many type of vegetable. It is really exciting to learn all those things for the first time.
Afternoon, you continue to visit to the magnificent Wat Xiengthong - the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang with its mosaic decoration and the former royal carriage. We still have time to visit the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts. If time permits, we will take a stroll around the city to visit Big Brother Mouse, which is the most famous bookshop in Laos. The next stop is Ock Pop Tock, meaning East Meets West, where you can learn about the traditional weaving in Laos. Our tour would be incomplete without climbing up Mt Phousi overlooking the city of Luang Prabang for a beautiful sunset before passing by the night market, where you can find a lovely collection of handmade textiles made by local and hill-tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.
